Year-on-year, oak wood flooring is a constant in both the traditional and contemporary home – as are ‘historic’ dark stains which bring rich, ruddy brown tones or emanate an almost dark, tropical look. But, for this autumn and winter, the real change is a growing interest in paler stained oaks. In response, Kährs has introduced a range of eco-friendly oil and lacquer prefinishes throughout its Linnea and Original ranges.

“Contemporary grey hues and white washes are being keenly sought by both designers and consumers, on both traditional one-strip boards and patterned wood floors. At Kährs, we’ve responded with our new Coastal, Artisan and Supreme ranges, which provide natural oil and matt lacquer finishes in a variety of striking pale tones, including pearly white, oyster, slate and silver hues. New stained finishes have also been introduced to our existing ranges, like Classic Nouveau Snow and Linnea Cloud, alongside darker tones and natural finishes.” commented Stina Andersson, Kährs Designer.

To reinforce the distinct new look, a variety of different surface treatments including handscraping, white washing and brushing are used in combination with the new on-trend stains. To complement, tactile fabrics, wall coverings and natural materials add further texture - either reflecting the pale colour pallet or providing a strong contrast.

Based on Kährs award-winning original ‘parquet’ design, all floors feature a multi-layered construction, which is both eco-friendly and provides enhanced stability. They can be installed on most dry, level surfaces and are suitable for installation over underfloor heating; Kährs glueless Woodloc® 5S joint enables fast, precise installation and eliminates gapping throughout the lifetime of the floor. Meanwhile, all surface treatments are solvent and formaldehyde free and provide a durable, easy care surface.
